Rent is negotiable, depending on use. But the low end will be $700 per month, for someone who seeks to use this room several times a week. This is not a posting for a full-time housemate.
The apartment is in an older, walk-up building. There are two other housemates. The room itself is small at approximately 12'x 11', and older. Still, it's a nice simple space and big enough for a single person who wants a place on the Upper East Side. Because it is so small, it really is not a good fit for someone with a lot of belongings and/or furniture. The entrance to the room is, actually, through the kitchen. This will not interfere with your privacy, but you may hear cooking noises when someone is cooking (which is rare, but sometimes happens quite late) . The room comes with a dresser, an ikea wardrobe, a small folding desk, a tv, and a bookshelf.
The neighborhood is great. It is safe at any hour, with easy access to buses and to the Lexington Line (4/5/6) subway. There is a great assortment of restaurants, open all hours and for all prices. Walking the streets seems relatively safe at any hour. The museums and both central Park and Carl Schurz Park are within walking distance. The housemates are two professional men who are very nice & considerate. This apartment is for non-smokers and there is a strong no-smoking policy even in the bedrooms.
There is some repair and renovation going on in the apartment now. Although a bit cluttered and older, we seek to keep the apartment clean. Each of us cleans up after ourselves very thoroughly. You are more than welcome to have an occasional guest, or significant other, but we are not looking for a fourth housemate.
